What other things are there to be aware of with a solo 401k? You can contribute as much as $17,500 as salary deferral to a solo 401k, just like a regular 401k. Also, like a regular 401k where employers match contributions, you can match contributions because you are the employer. The max contribution to your 401k account cannot exceed $52,000 during the year and that includes the employer and employee match. Also, the employer match can only be 25% of the salary the employee made. What you count as your salary differs depending on if your business is an LLC, S-Corp or C-Corp.
