Self-Directed Solo 401(k)
Open a self-directed 401(k)
Apply in a few minutes and put owner-only retirement dollars into real estate, private equity, metals, crypto, and private notes. Accuplan provides the plan document and runs the administration.
What you are opening
A Solo 401(k) with a wider menu of assets.
A Solo 401(k) is the retirement plan built for owner-only businesses. The owner contributes in two roles, as employee and as employer, which makes the headline limit much larger than any IRA. For 2026, total contributions can reach $72,000, with Roth permitted on both sides. The plan can also offer participant loans, which IRAs cannot.
What changes with a self-directed Solo 401(k) is the asset list. Instead of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, the plan can hold real estate, private companies, precious metals, cryptocurrencies, private loans, and other alternative assets.

Open your account
Apply online with your business info. Have your EIN, business entity type, and a photo ID ready. The plan has to exist by December 31 to count contributions for that tax year.
Sign the plan document
We provide the plan document. You sign it and keep it on file. No IRS filing is required until plan assets reach $250,000.
Fund the plan
Roll over an old 401(k) or IRA, or contribute new money from the business. Employee deferrals up to $24,500 in 2026, plus employer profit-sharing on top, up to a combined $72,000.
Direct your investments
Submit a direction of investment from your dashboard. Income and gains stay inside the plan.
